Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, generating powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Hailstones and Extensive Destruction

Locals reported substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7 centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to address the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, around 1,000 residents in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its wettest day in a year and a half.

Rescue organizations handled 598 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

• Wyndham area - over 175 calls for assistance

At one point on the previous day, more than twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were experiencing outages.

Damp conditions were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued storm activity predicted across different parts of both regions.

Medical Alert

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.

This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the state.
